BENIN CITY In commemoration of the 2022 World Hepatitis Day, the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), in collaboration with Edo State Ministry of Health, Gastroenerology Unit, and the University of Benin (UBTH) and development partners has mapped out strategies to make the day remarkable with lots of features that would be beneficial to the people of the state.

The Executive Secretary of EDSPHCDA, Dr. Obarisiagbon Eloghosa said that “hepatitis can’t wait” due to its possible death risk without delay.

She said that this year’s Theme: “hepatitis can’t wait” confirms the urgent attention that should be given to the disease.

Speaking with newsmen in Benin City, Dr. Obarisiagbon said that World Hepatitis Day (WHD) is an avenue to raise the level of awareness and enlighten Edo citizens on the risk factors and the need for the prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of Hepatitis.

She listed activities to mark this year’s Hepatitis Day to include, health education on hepatitis, hepatitis B and C screening, blood pressure checks and COVID-19 vaccination.

Dr. Eloghosa added that the activities to mark the day would hold simultaneously in the three senatorial districts of the state.
