Asaba – The Member Representing Ika South Local Government Area Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Festus Okoh has condemned, in very strong terms, the cult-related series of killings of youths in Ika South Local Government Area.

Hon. Okoh made this known during a crucial meeting he held with security operatives in the locality at Agbor in Ika South Local Government area of Delta State.

While describing the killings as uncalled for and barbaric, he said: “In the nearest future, both the victims and their families as well as those involved in the ugly act will regret their actions.”

The lawmaker frowned at the current situation on ground, and called on all members of the various confraternities to cease fire and toe the part of peace, love and understanding.

He observed that the original essence of the formation of such groups by the founding fathers of confraternities nationwide many years ago, was to, among other things, help enhance the interactive capacities of members and build the spirit of inter-relationships among members whom he noted were predominantly youths not for senseless acts.

Hon Festus Chukwuyem Okoh who is also the Majority Whip at the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Transport called on the men and officers of the Nigeria Police at the Agbor Area Command and that of the Agbor Divisional Headquarters to put their foot on ground in the area of regular patrols so as to comb the Community and rid it of criminals.

He appealed to the members of the various community policing outfits to continue in their duty of securing the people and to complement the efforts of the Nigeria Police to ensure that the negative aspects of cultism and gang wars were drastically curtailed in the area.

The lawmaker urged the members of the public to continue to remain calm and maintain peace and cordiality in their daily activities and businesses as Government is on top of the matter for the good of all.

He warned that any further report of such heinous act from the youths would attract the full weight of the Delta State Government on the culprits.

In attendance at meeting were the Agbor Area Commander of the Nigeria Police, ACP Adamu Idachaba, Agbor Divisional Police Officer and heads of the various Community Policing outfits and Anti-cult groups.
