Luck ran against a private commercial car (Kabukabu) driver while trying to defraud some passengers at Ipakodo area of Lagos State.
The suspect, Emmanuel Rolland ‘m’ aged 34 along with his conspirer who pose as driver and passenger (now at large) are alleged to have been defrauding unsuspecting members of the public that entered their vehicle for something.
Authoritative source revealed that the suspect and the collaborator always enticed other passengers that there are plenty grade one printed naira notes inside the car booth and can be given to them depending on the amount they can produce.
According to source, the unsuspecting passengers immediately show interest and part away their money but will be dumfounded when they are taken to a deserted area for the transaction and sent out with the threat of killing them.
Luck however ran against them when a victim in the car raised alarm, which attracted passersby and the Policemen from Ipakodo division were invited and the suspect was arrested and his accomplice ran away.
Confirming the report, the Police spokesman, Lagos command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed, “The suspect was arrested at about 1120hrs on Friday, July 29, 2022 along Ipakodo road after his victim raised alarm”.
“Investigation revealed that the suspect, alongside his conspirators (still at large) while operating in a Volkswagen Jetta saloon car, with registration number JJJ 27 DG, disguised as driver and passengers, picked unsuspecting passengers, and started discussions about some money purportedly kept in the boot”, he revealed.
The PPRO added, “The suspect confessed to having started this crime in January, adding that he was arrested on his sixth outing. Effort is in top gear to arrest other fleeing members of the gang and other perpetrators of such crime”.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi has directed that the case be transferred to the headquarters for further investigations and prosecution”, he remarked.
