BENIN CITY: The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has hailed the matriarch of the Obaseki family, Deaconess Dr. Victoria Omorogieva Ojemudia, on her 95th birthday celebration.

The governor at the weekend led other top government functionaries to the birthday thanksgiving service held at the New Benin Baptist Church.

He was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha.

The dignitaries include Edo State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Ethan Uzamere and the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of Edo State Flood Erosion and Watershed Management Agency, Dr. Tom Obaseki.

Obaseki felicitated with the matriarch for her immense contributions to societal development.

He said, “I wish mama a very wonderful 95th birthday, and pray for more good health. The most important thing in life is good health and with good health one can achieve anything in life.”

On his part, Uzamere noted, “I am congratulating mama for this rare feet of 95 years. It is not easy to be 95 years on earth. I am urging the children to continue to celebrate their mother everyday. She is a great woman who provides support for all those that come across her.

“I urge the younger ones who want to live up to and more than 95 years old to emulate her spirituality, hospitality and good deeds to attain her age.”

Addressing the congregation, the National President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis Wale Oke, described the celebrant as an iconic, virtuous and prayerful woman who takes delight in caring for men of God.

“Mama is hospitable, exemplary, inspirational, holy and a faithful woman who over the years lived her life in the fear of God. She has lived a life of godliness and has affected the family, church, society, state and country at large.”

The Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Edo State Chapter, Bishop Oyenude Kure, described her as an embodiment of God’s grace, hailing her “uncommon commitment to the issues concerning the kingdom of God and the Church.”
