Lagos – A 20-year old youth, Tosin Kolade is presently cooling his feet in Abolongo Correctional facility, Oyo town for allegedly raping a 17 year old girl to death inside a Church premises in Ibadan.

The suspect who was arraigned before a magistrate court in Ibadan was denied bail and sent to the correction center pending the advicee by the DPP on whether the case can treated at the magistrate level or High Court.

Authoritative source revealed Kolade landed in trouble in Ibadan, after he allegedly lured, raped a 17-year old girl and she died eventually in the process inside the premises of Christ Power Evangelical Crusade International Church, Olodo area, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Source disclosed that after his arrest by the Police, Kolade, was charged before the Family Court on Monday, 26th September, 2022, for defilement, theft and murder.

The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Patricia Adetuyibi, did not take his plea but ordered that he should be remanded in Abolongo Correctional facility, Oyo Town pending legal advice from the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Folake Ewe told the Court that the suspect on 17th September, 2022, at about 4pm allegedly defiled a 17-year old girl, which caused her death at the church premises.

Inspector Ewe said that the suspect allegedly committed the offence at Christ Power Evangelical Crusade International Church, Olodo area, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The prosecutor also told the Court that Kolade, having raped the victim to death, stole her iPhone 6 Plus, worth N120, 000 from the victim, adding that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 34 of the Oyo State Child Right’s Law of 2006 and Section 383 and 316 and punishable under Section 390 (9) and 319 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

The matter was adjourned till 23rd February, 2023, for the report of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
