BENIN CITY- The Director-General, DG, Edo State Health Insurance Commission (EDOHIS), Dr Rock Amegor has advocated regular exercise to reduce expenditure on health as it promotes general wellbeing.

Dr Rock Amegor stated that people who engaged in exercise hardly fell sick as when they do, it is not difficult for them to get over it.

The Director General disclosed this at a fitness programme “GetFit” organised by Edo Insurance Scheme (EDOHIS) at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City on Saturday, November 26, 2022.

Dr Rock Amegor explained that the GetFit with EDOHIS was aimed at bysensitising Edo residents of the needs and benefits of health insurance.

He stated that 85,000 people spread across the 18 local government areas of the state have already registered with EDOHIS.

Dr Rock Amegor further said that EDOHIS hopes to register 130,000 people before the end of 2022.

The honourable Commissioner, Edo State Ministry of Youths and Gender Issues, Andrew Emwanta who was also at the event lauded the initiative which he said has kept Edo youths busy.

He said the ministry of Youths and Gender Issues will continue to partner with EDOHIS as exercise is the key to keep health going.

Among other Edo State government functionaries present at the “GetFit with EDOHIS” is Hon. Mrs Enehita Emeya, executive member, Edo State Sports Commission.

Activities that heralded the event include medical screening, fitness walk and workout session, health and nutrition talk as well as sensitisation.

It was the last and the fifth in series in the year 2022.
