…Trains Workers on Effective Service Delivery

As part of efforts to ensure an efficient and productive manpower development, Edo State Government has completed a two day Capacity building on Effective Communication and Minutes writing for officers on Grade level 8 -12 in the Civil/Public service.

Declaring the workshop open at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy, in Benin City, the Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., said that the training and retraining of workers in the State is in line with the present administration’s desire to building intellectual property resource which is essential to ensuring that workers deliver effectively.

The Head of Service explained that Mr. Governor has continually emphasized that the Service is the Fulcrum of development of any Administration and as such the government has ensured that a deliberate systematic approach is put in place to ensure that every Edo worker is able to deliver on their job effectively.

Okungbowa who enjoined participants to make the most of the two days workshop with utmost attention noted that this Series is just one of the trainings that will be rolled out to effectively inculcate among staff how things are done within the service

Also speaking, Managing Director, John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy ,Precious Imuwahen Ajoonu explained that the training on Effective Communications has been designed to ensure that participants are equipped with the right communication skills which will help them function within the service .

She took participants through some vital essentials in Human interaction which include understanding people/environment, phrasing of communication to build thrust, knowing the target audience and how to communicate effectively, among other things.

The Director of Administration, John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy Mrs. Gina Otamere x-rayed to participants what a minute is and She took the participants across the step by step ways of writing minutes within the Service, writing of Circular letters using the civil service model and also gave an insight on Memo writing as it relates to the Service

Participants were engaged in different communication skills and also practiced how to write minutes using the Civil Service model.

They expressed their heart felt gratitude to the Edo State Government that has made training and up-skilling of workers a top most priority.
