The Edo State Government has restated its commitment to transforming the state’s civil and public service, noting that the government is leveraging technology to improve productivity and service delivery.

The Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., said this when he received delegates from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and ACIOE Associates, who were on a courtesy visit to his office at the Government House, Benin City.

The Head of Service said the government has ensured that every worker is adequately equipped with the requisite skills and tools to guarantee efficient service delivery to Edo citizens and contribute their quota to the socio-economic growth and development of the state.

Reassuring the government’s commitment to the welfare of the workers, Okungbowa said the state is operating an e-governance system, leveraging technology to enhance service delivery and attain its objective for a digitally inclined civil/public service.

He added, “We understand the role of technology in the socio-economic development of any society. As a government, we will continue to leverage its immense benefit to ensure the delivery of efficient services to our citizens, ensuring economic prosperity and increased livelihood for our people.’

He noted that all the 72 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state have been fully onboarded to the government’s e-governance system.

Listing other areas the government is adequately deploying technology, Okungbowa added, “We are also deploying technology in the Residency Card Implementation as well as the Edo Fleet Management System, otherwise known as Edo MEGA Connect.”

Speaking on behalf of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Olubunmi Okunowo assured the group’s support to the state government’s efforts in achieving a technologically-driven system that guarantees optimal service delivery to Edo people.
