Last week the former head of state of the Federal Republic of Nigeria came to Edo state to commission some laudable projects embarked upon by the Comrade Governor, Adams Aliu Oshiomhole in Benin City.
The commissioning of Iheya, Ivbiye and other 9 adjourning streets have been lauded by a chieftain, and leader of the Oredo chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria ACN Hon. Dr. Lawrence Okah JP as giant leap for the people of Oredo in particular and Edo sate in general.
He said that the residents in Iheya, Ivbiye and other communities in the environ are overjoyed by the transformation which their community have undergone.
The ACN Oredo leader pointed out that for more than 20 years Iheya, Ivbiye and all the communities in the environ were besieged by bad roads, flooding, erosion and darkness. The whole community was also a no-go area.
He pointed out that the home of a former governor of Bendel state was located in Iheya, and still the road was not motorable for many years, stressing that the entire area had been cut off completely until the coming into power of the comrade governor, who decided to give a new lease of life to the people in the area.
He therefore poured encomiums on the Comrade Governor for putting smiles on the faces of the people in the area and for bringing development closer to them after all these years of abandonment.
Hon. Okah said that what the Comrade Governor had done at the Gani Fawehimi layout at Upper Mission is being replicated at Iheya and the adjourning streets.
From all indications, the residents of Iheya, Ivbiye and environs have been congratulating the comrade governor for bringing hope, beauty, and modernity into their lives having lived in a state of squalor and decadence all these years without any good roads and clean environment.
According to Hon. Okah Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is a political colossus whose stature towers above many politicians in the political firmament of Nigeria.
Hon. Okah debunked the idea of the opposition that the political activist and labour leaders never make good administrators or political leaders.
He said that from the reality on ground, the Comrade Governor is himself a political leader of no mean repute, who has the combined ability to organize, mobilize and works tirelessly to lead Edo people to the Promised Land.
The ACN Oredo leader affirmed that the Comrade Governor has in the past three and half years repositioned Edo state and has changed its history from being a backwards state to one that is experiencing rapid growth and development across all the sectors of the economy.
According to Hon Okah, there has been a monumental development across all spectrum of Edo society and this has been a very tasking work for the comrade governor who met Edo state at its lowest ebb.
He promised that during the second tenure of the comrade governor many more communities would be transformed with the provision of good road networks, street lights, paved walk ways, drainage system, good schools, pipe borne water, better health care facilities and better environmental sanitation process.
