BENIN CITY – The Chairman of Idokpa Community in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State and a renowned farmer, Mr. Nosa Obamwonyi has eulogized the National President of the Butchers’ Union and business mogul, Chief (Dr) John Osamede Adun (JP) the Uwangue of Benin Kingdom, for his spirited efforts in reviving the cultural heritage of the Benin Kingdom.
Mr. Nosa Obamwonyi, gave the commendation at the residence of Chief     Adun, who is also the sole Administrator of Edo Line Transport Company Limited during the “Igue Oghedohia” festivity which was celebrated by the cultural icon.
He noted that the Igue festival was a unifying agent of the people of Benin Kingdom which started about 501 years ago during the reign of Oba Eware, the great.
According to him, Igue was a symbol of peace, love, long life and prosperity of the people of the great kingdom and that it fortifies against any harmful attack to the people.
He described Chief Adun as a man of cultural and traditional values, who had used his God-given potentials to elevate the cultural and traditional integrity of the Benin Kingdom across the world, just as he challenged other prominent Benin sons and daughters to emulate him.
It will be recalled that Chief Adun, was recently elevated to Chief Uwangue of Benin Kingdom, the fourth highest hierarchy of Chiefs in the palace by the most reverend monarch, Oba Erediauwa CFR, for his exemplary disposition towards the rapid promotion of the Benin Culture.
The Community Chairman while thanking Omo N’ Oba for elevating Chief Adun however urged all Benin sons and daughters to be proud of participating in the on-going and subsequent Ugie festivals in the kingdom, just as he tasked the Chief Executive Office, Bob Izua Conglomerates World Wide, to see his elevation as a means to positively impact on the lives of the people of the kingdom.
