BENINCITY – An All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, Elder Macaulay Ovienria has advocated the need to give the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) a free hand to conduct free, fair and credible elections on March 28 and April 11, 2015.
In a release made available to The NIGERIAN OBSERVER in Benin City, the APC Chieftain said that “What every Nigerians needs now is free and credible elections that is free from rigging and manipulation”.
According to him, the recent call on INEC to jettison the use of the Card Readers Machine to conduct the general elections by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is suspicious as it is condemnable.
He said the use of Card Readers Machine is one sure way the INEC is using to check mate rigging and manipulation of elections.
“Why is it that the PDP is afraid of Card Readers; the function of the Card Readers is to prevent multiple voting and to avoid fake voter cards and above all give room to one man, one vote”, he said.
The APC Chieftain added that, “ I think INEC should be commended for this new innovation instead of condemning it.
“Any attempt to prevent INEC not to use Card Readers will not be acceptable by the good people of Nigeria”, he said.
He commended Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State and his Deputy, Dr. Pius Ogberanmwen Odubu for leading the progressives in the state to vote for APC which he described as the right party”.
