Despite securing them a ticket in the Nigeria topflight, the management of the Afonja Warriors have dismissed its technical crew
Newly promoted Nigeria Premier League side, Kwara United have fired coach Samson Unuanel and his technical crew barely  a month after they guaranteed the team a return to the Nigeria topflight.
Unuanel, who joined the Afonja Warriors from Ocean Boys in 2012 in topflight was hired to return the Ilorin based club to the elite division after they were relegated in 2013.
The management also confirmed the disengagement affects other technical members including chief coach Ali Zubair, assistant coach Jimoh Balogun, trainer Rasheed Badmus and goalkeeper trainer Tunji Abubakar.
Kwara edged Ranchers Bees to the promotion ticket after been award three points and three goals by the Nigeria National League board following two inconclusive games in which Ranchers were faulted for an assult on match officials.
In a statement to Goal, the general manager of the club, Mohammed Haruna Maigidansama said the decision of the management were in desire to restructure the technical crew to encourage quality competition and instill discipline.
Maigidansama said the expelled coaches are free to submit their interest alongside fresh applicants into various vacant technical crew positions.
As I am talking to you now, we have asked all technical crew members to go, but they have the opportunity to re-apply if interested,” Maigidansama said.
“They have been asked to go, and to re-apply if they are still interested. You know they signed contract for one season, which has ended.  We thank them for their service, sacrifice and support when in charge.
“We really need to restructure the technical department to avoid the kind of ugly incidences witnessed last season.
“We had many shortcomings, and we need to correct that. We need a more vibrant and disciplined technical department,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the management of the have announced that players of Kwara United will resume on Monday, January 12, 2015 ahead of the 2015 Nigeria Professional Football League season.
