THE Media Officer of Nigeria’s under-23 male football team, Timi Ebikagboro, in Abuja said the team would face Turkey in an international friendly tie on Feb. 20.
Reports state that the Dream Team VI recently played a two-game friendly with Tunisia, losing the first match 3-5, and winning the reverse fixture 3-0.
Ebikagboro said the team’s players were still in camp because of the friendly, and the coaches were working round the clock to select the best players for the country.
“We are still in camp, training every day in the morning and in the evening. Our coaches are working to reduce the number of players.
“We need a formidable team in our match with Gabon, because our opponents are equally a formidable team,” the media officer said.
Ebikagboro said the friendly match against Turkey would be used to prepare the team for the match against Gabon.
“We may stay for two weeks after the international friendly against Turkey, and play about four or five friendly matches before facing Gabon in the must-win first leg match.
“We hope to win the first leg and that matters the most.
“Once we get a good result from the away match, we will not have any reason to entertain any fear in the second leg,” he said.
NAN reports that the second squad of the Dream Team VI had also finished second in the 2014/2015 Super 4 Invitational Tournament with nine points from five matches.
