BENIN CITY – The Family Planning Programme of Edo State has received a boost with a donation of a Hyundai Jeep to it by the management of the Nigeria Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI).
Receiving the Jeep, Edo State Commissioner for Health, Dr (Mrs.) Aihanuwa Eregie thanked NURHI for the donations which she said will in no small measure help to boost the Primary Health Care delivery services of the state.
Promising to make judicious use of the Jeep and other items donated for the interest of women and children of Edo State, Dr. Eregie thanked the organization for the achievement recorded in the state through the partnership programme which ended last year.
She assured that the state government would continue to partner with reputable organization to move the health sector forward.
Making the presentation to State Commissioner, the NURHI Advocacy Adviser, Mrs. Charity Ibeawuchi said that the gesture was a clear demonstration of the organisation’s commitment to the sustainability of Family Planning Programme in Edo State.
Commending the State government for partnering with NURHI in the reproductive health programme of the state, she enjoined the state to ensure the sustainability of Family Health and Safe Motherhood Initiative Programme in the state, saying that NURHI was leaving behind some equipment and materials for the state to encourage the sustainability of the programme.
High point of the ceremony was the presentation of the keys and relevant documents to the Commissioner by Mrs. Ibeawuchi.
