SOKOTO – The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Sokoto State, Alhaji Abubakar Saddique, said the use of card readers during the forthcoming general elections would add value to the electoral process.
Saddique spoke at a meeting of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with youths and non- governmental and community-based organizations on 2015 General Elections in Sokoto.
Saddique, represented by the Administrative Secretary of the commission, Malam Ahmad Zogirma, said the commission introduced the use of card readers to have credible, free and fair elections.
“The use of the card readers to accredit voters will give more value to the electoral process and curb violence before, during or after elections.
“INEC is always concerned with the security of lives and property of the people during elections”, he added.
Saddique called on the electorate to accept the innovation by INEC.
