BENIN CITY – Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has sent the nomination of Princess Owen Akenzua as a Director in the Information Communication Telecommunication Agency (ICT) to the Edo State House of Assembly for confirmation.
The request of the Governor was contained in a letter dated March 6, 2015 and signed by Secretary to State Government.
The letter title: “Request for confirmation of nominees as Director in Information Communication Technology Agency” was read on the floor of the House yesterday during yesterday’s plenary session by the Deputy Clerk of the House.
The parliament in the same vein also announced the receipt of two Executive bills dated February 24, 2015 with the “a Bill for a law to make provisions for the Establishment  of Edo State College of Agriculture Technology, Agenebode and a Bill to amend the Law establishing Edo State College of Agriculture, Iguorhiakhi.
Speaker of the House, Hon. Uyi Igbe in his submission mandated the House Committee on Information to Screen the nominee and present its report within two weeks, for consideration by parliament.
During deliberations, parliament also referred the two Executive Bills to the House Standing Committee on Agriculture, with a mandate to submit its its report within two weeks for consideration.
Majority Leader of the House of Assembly, Hon. Philip Shaibu has expressed shock over the level of destruction by the fire that razed the ultra-modern studio of the Independent Television and Radio weekend in Benin City.
Hon. Shaibu expressed sympathy while moving a motion for adjournment of the plenary session.
Praying God to give the Management of Staff of ITV/Radio the courage to bear the damage and come to terms with the loss occasioned by the inferno.
The majority Leader prayed God almighty to provide the management of the media/outfit the resources to fix the damaged facilities in a bid to reposition the media outfit for greater and effective services.
