LAGOS- MTN Nigeria said it had partnered with 10 lucky customers to enable them accomplish their New Year resolutions that were made using “My 2015 Better Me App’’.
This is contained in a statement by its Chief Marketing Officer, Mr Bayo Adekanmbi, in Lagos.
Adekanmbi said the partnership was a demonstration of commitment and innovation by the MTN.
He said that primed as “the go-to App for self improvement within the Nigerian mobile space’’, the MTN “My2015 Application’’ enabled customers to achieve more by providing access to information.
The MTN official said the application provided information around healthy lifestyles, self improvement programmes, education, public holidays, prophesies for the year, security, among others.
According to him, using the 2015 resolution feature on the App, MTN subscribers are encouraged at the beginning of the year to upload their 2015 resolutions.
“As a reward for their efforts at being better, this partnership will see MTN assist 10 customers to achieve their 2015 resolutions uploaded on the My 2015 App.
“These resolution range from weight loss, financial guidance, professional certification, entrepreneurial training, among other life enriching opportunities.’’
Adekanmbi said the company was determined to demonstrate its values, while keeping its promises to exceed customers’ expectations and set bench marks in helping them to become better people.
“We are celebrating people that we will call “the better me generation’’. People who have left the ordinary and have use the power of the internet to redefine who they are.
“People who have codified their aspirations through MTN and are willing to go the extra mile to become better.
“We are happy that some people took the challenge seriously and trusted MTN as a partner in their quest to become better.
“This explains why we have gone the extra mile of picking people randomly whose resolution mean a lot to us and can provide inspiration to other people.
“We partner with them and make their resolutions become realities.’’
He urged Nigerians to view the issue of resolutions as not just a January affair but as an everyday commitment to becoming better in all spheres of endeavour.
He assured Nigerians of MTN’s commitment to partnering with and helping them bring their plans to fruition.
The General Manager, Consumer Marketing, Mr Richard Iweanoge, provided the rationale behind the 2015 resolution promo.
“Our intention at the launch of the “Better Me Campaign’’ is to help a lot more Nigerians access the internet through apps because it is the simplest route to go.
“We also feel strongly that it is not enough to make New Year resolutions; we need to create an opportunity for those resolutions to come to pass,’’ Iweanoge said.
One of the winners, Ms Amarachi Ahaneku, a young entrepreneur, who lives in Osogbo, made a resolution to expand her food packaging business and attend relevant courses that would sharpen her skills.
“When a big company like MTN says it wants to help me to achieve my New Year resolutions, it makes me very grateful to God and makes me very happy.
“Beyond the joy in my heart, I am also happy because its involvement will make a very big difference in my business.
“I see my business taking a great leap as a result of this partnership,’’ Ahaneku said.
Reports state that to benefit from the life enriching propositions on the My 2015 App, an MTN customer should text 2015 to 131 to download the App for free.
