BENIN CITY- Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole on Monday embarked on the inspection of the on-going construction of 2nd East Circular road project and the on-going Land reclamation works at the Ogbeson Gully erosion site.
At the 2nd East Circular road project site, the Governor’s unexpected appearance made the residents and traders at the Ogiso market to rush out of their residences and stalls to accord him a rousing welcome and shouting words of appreciation and prayers for the governor for embarking on such project.
It was not different at the Ogbeson gully erosion site where the land reclamation work had overwhelmed the residents comprising the old and young.
Going through both projects, Governor Oshiomhole, who acknowledged cheers from the jubilant crowd, assured the residents and traders at 2nd East Circular road that the road project would be completed with street lights installed to light up the area at night and make motoring pleasurable. In his words “As you see, we are continuing with the drainage. When the rains stop, we will do the asphalting, put street light so that whether day or night you will have light. Thank you for your support. Thank you. Thank you”.
At the site of the land reclamation works at Ogbeson, a widow, Mrs. Patience Obasogie went on her kneels and poured out thanks, praises and prayers for Governor Oshiomhole as her residence is among the buildings and churches in the neighbourhood that have been saved by the gigantic land reclamation and reconstruction project to control the devastating gully erosion that had ravaged the area.
On both road and land reclamation sites, the respective project managers were on ground to explain the nature and extent of work done and that which is yet to be done.
Responding to questions from journalists at the Ogbeson land reclamation site, Governor Oshiomhole said “We in the APC work. It is in our character to work. as we are working here so we are also working at Auchi, we are working at Ekenwan gully erosion site, we are building an ultra-modern hospital and we are working on the Upper Siluko road”.
Describing the opposition party as lousy, he also asserted that “each time they pray Oshiomhole should fail, we are going higher”.
