The Lagos State Police Command refutes the report of an intention to bomb a bank in Anthony area of Lagos.
According to the Police Public Relations officer, DSP Patricia Amadin, “Today, 12/08/2015 at about 0700 hours the Command was awakened by the news of a vehicle laden with Improvised Explosive Device (IED) suspiciously parked within the premises of GTBank, Anthony Village Branch”.
“Upon receipt of the distress call, the Police swung into action. The vehicle and the premises were scanned by the Police Bomb Disposal Unit. Thereafter, the vehicle was towed to Anthony Village Police Station”, she said.
She said, “The vehicle owner, one Mrs. Ronke Dawodu later surfaced and stated that she was driving home in her car with her children, when the car had developed a mechanical fault, adding that it was in a bid to secure the car that she parked it at the bank’s premises without the knowledge of the guards”.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, CP Fatai Owoseni wishes to use this medium to appeal to all Lagosians to be alert at all times and to promptly report all suspicious movements to the Police”, she remarked.
