BENIN CITY– A leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo Central senatorial district  Mr. Victor Eboigbe has dissociated himself from insinuation that he, along with certain members of the party, including five commissioners, are in talks with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, with a view to defecting from the ruling party.

He also warned those he called “rumour mongers” to stop linking him with any talk about defection from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Mr Eboigbe made the disclosure in a release made available to the press.

It would be recalled that a report linking him to a planned defection from the ruling APC to the opposition PDP, trended mostly in social media, particularly Edo Political Forum, EPF, last week.

The report has it that Mr Eboigbe, along with five serving commissioners from the zone were in “secret talks with the leadership of the PDP” being dissatisfied over the refusal of the governor to concede the party’s deputy governorship slot to his zone after the guber candidates from the area we’re trounced at the June 18 Primaries”.

Eboigbe, who described the report as a “wicked and an utterly irresponsible material” deliberately concocted to tarnish his “well-earned reputation”, noted that ordinarily, he would not have dignified owners of the report with any response, except that people were making curious enquiries.

Eboigbe added that he finds it very distasteful that anyone or group would link a leader like him with mundane issues connected to crossing over to the opposition PDP that has nothing to offer the people of Edo state.

“I am too deeply involved in the current campaign across the state to ensure that we continue to have a performing administration that I find it unimaginable that anyone would link me with such irresponsible act”, he said.
