BENIN CITY-The police and Nigerian Air Force have strengthened ties to further boost security of lives and property in Edo and its neighbouring states in the Niger- Delta region.

The aged-long synergy between the two security agencies was reinforced when the Commandant of 81 Air Maritime Group, Nigerian Air Force, Benin City Air Commodore Idi-Gamso Lubo paid a familiarization visit Edo Police Command in the state capital, yesterday.

The Air Force Commandant told the Commissioner of Police in state Mr Chris Ezike that he was at the police command headquarters to familiarize with those on ground in terms of internal security.

“We have come to identify with the people that have been on the ground, who know the ground more than any other person in terms of internal security duty, in terms of maintaining law and order.

“I have come to say we are friends, we are the same team working for the same purpose…

“If there is any problem my people happen to see from the sky and when they call me he (the Police Commissioner) will be the person I will call first because I know he has more men and he is closer to the people”.He stated.

Commodore Ida-Gamso Lubo however commended the police commissioner for his dedication to duty.

Responding, the Commissioner of Police Mr Chris Ezike expressed the police command readiness to continue to partner with the Air Force in the task of providing adequate security in Edo State and South-South region.

“I want to also assure you of the readiness of the command to partner with you in mitigating against the challenges of providing safety and security.

Mr Ezike however underscored the need to strengthen partnership towards providing water-tight security for the forthcoming coronation of Oba of Benin and the conduct of gubernatorial election in the state.
