Benin City – Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO), a non-governmental organisation is set to bestow the Outstanding Women Leadership Award on three distinguished Nigerian women on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Uyi Grand International Event Centre, Benin City , Edo State.

The award was instituted in year 2013 to identify and honour outstanding Nigerian women who have recorded milestone achievements in their chosen Professional, Public and Business life, showcases what LAPO stands for and its future plan for women.

The Coordinator, Mrs. Philomena Elijah said LAPO has over the years promoted women empowerment and celebrated their contributions to societal development, adding that by recognizing them, LAPO wants to tell the world who the awardees are and what they are doing to enhance the quality of human life in our global community.

She said nominees must be above 30 years of age and must have worked in the relevant field for at least10 years, adding that preference is usually accorded women who have come up in life after a great deal of struggle and adversity.

The LAPO Outstanding Women Leadership Award carries a cash prize and a plaque under three categories viz: Business, Professional and Public Life.
