Benin City – Edo state Deputy Governor Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu has said that giving priority attention to the manufacturing and production sectors would propel the economic diversification and turn around of the state .

Comrade shaibu made the assertion when he received the A and Global Enterprises Group, led by its chairman CEO, Prince Dr Brown Oshodin who paid a courtesy visit on the governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki in Government House Benin City.

The deputy governor who received the group on behalf of the Governor,reiterated that the present administration is concerned about equipping Edo youth with necessary skills through vocational training and encouragement of more large scale agriculture revealed that governor Obaseki is planning to establish an Artisan Village to promote and encourage indigenous technology and scientific development.

“We are consolidating on the infrastructure achievement of the past administration in the state to the level of prosperity. Our governor who is from the private sector background knows the importance of technical and vocational skills in emerging economy made his first visit to the Benin Technical college to inspect the college and till now, the governor has been doing everything to make vocational and technical education available and attractive for Edo Youth, so they can meaningfully contribute to his administration for the good of all.

He commended the group for what they have been doing in the area of coordination of artistsans, particularly those in automobile, adding that he was among those in the state house of assembly who were instrucmental to the passage of the Artisan Bill sponsored by the group in 2010

He assured that government will look at areas of collaboration with the group, and called on other Edo sons and daughters in Diaspora to bring their experiences in their field of endeavor to assist the present administration in its quest to ensure sustainable process of wealth creation.

Speaking, the chairman A and Global Enterprises Prince Brown Oshodin who said they are service providers, said their visit was to intimate the present administration with their activities which mainly involves coordination of Artisans activities.

He said now they are aware that the present administration has the burning desire to create employment and wealth, as well as his emphasis on technical and vocational Education that it is their hope that government gives them the opportunity to contribute to the progress of the state.
