Lagos – The police on Thursday docked one Mohammed Ibrahim,20 , at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court , Lagos, for alleged burglary and theft of a loudspeaker worth N25,000.

The prosecutor, Sgt.Ishola Samuel, told court that the accused; a resident of Abattoir Area of Agege, a Lagos suburb, allegedly burgled a house and stole an M.P speaker on June 26 at the Oko-Oba area of Agege.

“The accused entered the apartment of one Aliyu Abdullahi and stole his M.P speaker, valued at N25, 000,’’ Salami said.

According to the prosecutor, the accused was caught while attempting to escape with the speaker.

He said the offences contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Code, Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 prescribes a three-year jail term for anyone convicted of stealing.

The magistrate, Miss A.R. Onilogbo, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N20, 000 with one surety in like sum.

She said the surety must be gainfully employed and should also show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

Onilogbo then adjourned the case until Aug.17 for mention.
