BENIN CITY- Security agencies have expressed readiness to ensure a hitch free forthcoming local government election in Edo State.

The Police Commissioner of Police, Edo State CP Johnson Kokumo stated this during an inter-agency security gathering held in his office, Benin City, yesterday.

“In Edo State we will be having a local government election in due course, so all the heads of security agencies have converged in my office to synergize a robust plan towards ensuring a hitch free elections.

“We are very much prepared, we have made adequate security arrangements in some areas in the interland.
“We are taking protective measures to take care of any incoming challenges, so we are good to go”. CP Kokumo stated.
He noted that EDSIEC is charged with the responsibility to conduct the local polls, as it is the duty of security agencies to protect lives and property before, during and after the excercise.

Among other heads of security agencies that attended the meeting were the Edo State director, Department of State Services, DSS, representative of the commander, 4 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Lt. Col. I Yusuf, Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Edo State Command, Mr Makinde Ayinla and Mr Eniolorunda Kayode of the Nigeria Immigration, Edo Command.
