UBIAJA – Some victims of kidnapers have been found dead in Ubiaja, administrative headquarters of Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Their bodies were discovered by their relatives around the Ekobekor Settlement on the Old Ugboha Road axis of Ubiaja after paying millions of naira to the kidnappers as ransom.

The victims were kidnapped on July 6, 2021 from a Toyota Sienna Space Bus in Ubiaja, after which the kidnappers opened negotiations with victims’ family, resulting in the payment of millions of naira as ransom.

It was gathered that the relatives who went to deliver the ransom were seriously beaten by the kidnappers after receiving the ransom.

Meanwhile, five persons, including three males, one woman and a baby were last Saturday kidnapped by suspected Fulanis, close to Iruekpen Community.

They were kidnapped while returning to Ekpoma from Benin City after attending a burial ceremony.

It was gathered that the victims were part of a group who were returning from Benin in a convoy of three buses, but while others escaped, they unfortunately could not.

The kidnappers, according to information gathered, had succeeded in stopping the first bus, but could not stop the following two, due to the brevity of the drivers.

The kidnappers however gave the the escaping buses a hot chase, during which the youths in the bus they had stopped escaped into the bush.

But the three men and a woman with a baby could no escape like the youths, hence they were kidnapped and taken into the bush.

As at the time of the report, the kidnapped victims were yet to be released.
