Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin,weekend, returned to the summit of the southern conference of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Group B1 following their hard earned 1-0 victory over Campos FC of Owerri.

It was an explosive encounter at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri as Stephen Adodo scored the only goal of the match for the Benin Arsenal in the 26th minute after connecting Zaidu Ayuba’s assist and camly drilled it into the right corner of the net to give his side the vital three points away from home.

Insurance FC who also defeated Campos FC 2-1 in their first round meeting in Benin now fully occupy the leadership position of the southern conference Group B1 table with 31 points after playing fifteen games,two points ahead of their major contender Gateway Utd who lost 1-0 at Adoration FC, Enugu to step down from the number one position.

Coach Monday Odigie made five substitutions in the bid to get more goals but his boys were wasteful but lucky to run away with the lone goal victory as the host fought hard for equalizer they never never got.

Insurance will be leaving Owerri happy and with confidence to host Osun Utd in their next game in Benin next weekend.
