BENIN CITY – The Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA) has embarked on an intensive COVID-19 vaccination exercise across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state as part of the implementation of the SCALES 3.0 strategy.

The implementation of the SCALES 3.0 Strategy is aimed at accelerating integrated COVID-19 vaccination and other routine immunization to the door steps of the people, workplaces and other public places.

As a follow-up, Health Educators across various state have commenced integrated advocacy and sensitization of Edo residence on the need to get vaccinated so as to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

The State Health Education Officer,Mrs Irene Uabor urged Health Education Officers in various local government areas to do the needful as they continue on Integrated Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization (ACSM) activities for COVID-19 vaccination, Routine Immunization (RI), and other Primary Health Care (PHC) services.

Speaking with Health Education Officers (HEO’s) in a forum, Mrs. Uabor discouraged partial vaccination and advised that, the targeted population gets fully vaccinated by accessing first, second and booster doses as it proffers increase immunity against the virus.

Mrs. Uabor noted that SCALES 3.0 is an evidence-based update that fixes the bugs in SCALES 2.0, while sticking to best practices.

She added that the SCALES 3.0 strategy would address the identified implementation gaps in SCALES 2.0 and bring about more accountability for performance, strengthens electronic data reporting and promote robust demand generation at every level.

She therefore urged eligible public (18 years and above and a waiver for people of 12 to 16years for international travels) to g be vaccinated in order to prevent the spread of the deadly Corona Virus.
