“ Seek ye the Lord while he may be found call ye upon him while he is near- Is56:6
This simply means that at this very moment the Lord would be found if you seek him, that means that at this very instant he is near you if you call upon him.
The Lord himself speaks in the book of Jeremiah: “And ye shall seek me and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart” Jer.29:13
Unmistakably when seeking the Lord it should be with your whole heart many are in the habit of seeking the Lord with half mind; as they seek the Lord, part of their mind is already surveying idols or powers they could resort to. That is not seeking the Lord with the whole heart. It is self-deceit
Not many in our present age are prepared to seek the Lord. What many seek is the quickest way to get a car, the quickest way to win election to the National Assembly or the state assembly where a huge sum of money can flow speedily into their Bank accounts. Have we seen one who seeks the face of the Lord to enter such a lofty position without being involved in bribery? Most often, large sums of money could be given to agents who would be in charge of buying votes in the polling station
- Those seeking the face of the Lord are those who move away from sin in repentance seeking reconciliation with God in the name of His Son Jesus Christ through whom all things were created, and by whom all things were created (John1:3,10)
Assuredly those who seek the Lord would find him if they sincerely do so: “ But if from thence thou shall seek the Lord thy God thou shall find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.” Deu. 4:29. Those who seek the face of the Lord are determined to stand firm and call upon him day and night. But there are many who love to call on the Lord at day in their places of worship but in the night call on other gods and other spirits in the grave yard. Are you in that group? Come out from them today and begin to seek the Lord with all your heart. No more sacrifice to idols. Do not go again to burial grounds in the dead night for any power. Or is there any friend still holding you strongly to such? Disengage from him or her today, immediately and begin to seek the face of the Lord in the name of the Lord Jesus and live in eternity with Christ : that shall be your portion.
- “ Seek the Lord and his Strength: seek his face evermore.” Ps105:4
Are you aware that those who seek the face of the Lord with their whole hearts are the ones seeking his strength in all their work and in all they do?
Have you heard people saying ‘let us seek the face of the Lord in this matter and surely he will answer us’? Yes, uncountable number of people have sought the face of the Lord and scored victory. What of you yourself? Or are you the unsteadfast type running here and there never stable and ever doubting the power of God? Hear the Scripture: “ But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” James1:6-8
Joshua sought the face of the Lord and his strength and performed gallantly, conquered a number of territories to reach the promised land. David sought the face of the Lord and his strength and killed Goliath in battle
- By the way, when is the Lord near us for us to seek his face? And when is the Lord near us so that we can easily reach him and seek his face? And where can we easily locate him so that we can easily find him? You want to know when God is near you or to know where to locate him? God is near us actually but idol worshippers ignorantly carve out idols, images to represent God. God is not far away from you. He is near you so throw away your idols and call upon God and he will answer you. Where to find him? God is where you are whether in your room, your office, market, on land, over the sea, everywhere. That is why our Lord Jesus tell us: “ for everyone that asketh receiveth: and he that seeketh findeth: and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” (Luke 11:10)
The Lord is near us always. All we have to do is to keep away from sin and unrighteousness and call upon the Lord God in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. You can seek the face of the Lord in prayers and fasting
So God is near us: he is everywhere and we can find him and he cares for us: “ he cares for me anywhere I go. Oh what a friend like Jesus I have. Over the sea and over land, through the air, on the highway he cares for me. Every time every day, oh what a friend like Jesus I have.” (unknown author)
Therefore accept Christ today and walk with God and seek his face daily for without Christ you can do nothing. Jn15:5.
