The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has inaugurated a caretaker committee for the Edo State chapter of the council to be led by Comrade Ehis Osagie, as Chairman.

In a statement, the Vice President, South South of the NYCN, Comrade Innocent Ajayi, said the caretaker committee has the mandate to usher in a new administration within 60 days in the state.

He said, “The Management Committee of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo State Chapter writes to notify the general public of the new leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo State chapter, whose primary responsibility is to see to a new administration within 60 days.”

According to him, Comrade Ehis Osagie, will serve as the Chairman, while Comrade Mathew Johnson is the Secretary of the committee.

He added that other members of the caretaker committee are: Comrade Augustina Oyamenda, Comrade Dove Igeri and Comrade Gift Evuen.

Ajayi said, “This development has become imperative in order to set the records straight and not to further breach the provisions of the NYCN Constitution.”

He continued, “To this end, the general public is hereby notified that dealings whatsoever in the name of the NYCN with the former Executive should cease henceforth, as the current Caretaker Committee and its members are expected to be accorded all the rights and privileges accruable to the Council.”

He said that “Consequently, all Local Government Coordinators are expected to attend a Management Meeting scheduled as follows: Date: 5th November 2022, Time: 10am, Venue: Youth House, 120 Akpakpava Road, Benin City.”
