Two weeks after the gruesome murder of Reverend Father Isaac Achi in Niger State , the Senate has finally called for the probe and arrests of his killers.

The Senate on Wednesday observed a one-minute silence in honour of the slain priest, who was burnt to death in the Paikoro Local Government area in Niger State.

Terrorists, in the early hours of Sunday, January 15, burnt the Catholic priest alive in his church.

Achi, until his untimely death was the Kafin Koro Deanery of the Minna Diocese of Niger State and the Reverend Father in charge of St Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kafin Koro.

The point of order was raised by the Niger-East lawmaker, Senator Sani Musa, who cited Orders 42 and 51 to seek the leave of the Senate to present a motion on the gruesome murder of Rev. Father Isaac Achi in Kaffinkoro town in the Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State.

Lawan said, “The Senate condemns in strongest terms, the gruesome murder of Rev. Father Isaac Achi and other natives killed alongside.

“The Senate urges the Nigeria Police and other relevant security agencies to carry out a comprehensive investigation into this dastardly act and promptly arrest and prosecute the perpetrators.”

The Senate also, “urged the National Emergency Management Agency to urgently carry out construction work on the residence of the priest that was raised down.

The Senate, thereafter, condoled with the family of the deceased, the Bishop of Minna Diocese and observed a one-minute silence in honour of the deceased.
