The commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, Commandant of Corps (CC), Usman Ishaq Alfadarai on Wednesday assured all the youth corps members of adequate safety while serving as temporary Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) staff during the 2023 general elections.

Alfadarai gave the security assurance when he led a team on a visit to the state coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Yetunde Baderinwa, at its temporary camp, in Iyana – Ipaja, Lagos on Wednesday.

Alfadarai assured the state coordinator of NYSC and her team of the command’s readiness to ensure the safety of corps members before, during and after the forthcoming 2023 general elections, stating that his mission of the visit was important at the very crucial interagency collaboration.

He further assured the NYSC, of the command’s continuous support in the deployment of personnel to the camp at all periods when their services are needed due to sincere importance the command attaches to the lives of corps members, staff and their property.

Alfadarai also sought the support and cooperation of the state coordinator to continue to sustain the already established harmonious working relationships between the corps and the command, create better enabling environment and improved working relationships, which will spur the command to render effective security services, in line with its mandates.

The NYSC, Lagos State coordinator, in a warm reception of the NSCDC team, commended the diligence and uprightness of the officers and men of the command posted to the Iyana – Ipaja camp, for upholding the rules and regulations of the camp, in conjunction with other security agencies. She also sought for more collaborations with the NSCDC in the state.

The state commandant, who also spoke briefly at a programme, which was held to sensitize corps members, seized the opportunity to visit and inspect various departments and facilities at the camp.

In the same vein, the NSCDC state commandant also visited the commissioner of police (CP), Lagos State Command, Alabi Abiodun Sylvester, same day in his office, at Police Headquarters, Ikeja for more collaboration between the two security agencies.

Alfadarai said that the visit was imperative to appreciate the CP, and to further cement a good working relationship between the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the NSCDC in Lagos State.

While still stating his mission of visit, he further congratulated, the CP, now, newly promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector – General of Police, to head Zone 2, which covers Lagos and Ogun commands, sought for more support and mentorship from him even as he moves to take up another higher assignment and wished him a successful tenure in office.

The CP, in his response also appreciated the state commandant for finding out time to pay him an official visit, since his resumption as a new principal of the Corps in Lagos.

He commended the telepathic relationship between both agencies in the state, which has made them not to record any case of rivalry in his tenure and assured the corps members of cordial and harmonious working relationship with his successor as well as affirmed his own continuous support from the higher level.
