…say on course to make Nigerians happy

After a disastrous home defeat to Guinea Bissau in the first leg of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, the Super Eagles have pleaded with Nigerians not to give up on them over the Friday loss.

Peoples Gazette reports that the Super Eagles, via their official Facebook page, sent out the appeal on Saturday, sharing photos of their training for the second leg of the match at Guinea Bissau.

“Please don’t give up on us. We know you deserve more and we’re very much on course to make you happy. Final training before jetting out to Guinea Bissau,” the Eagles wrote.

Nigerian Super Eagles will travel to Estádio 24 de Setembro on Monday for the second leg of the game.

Guinea-Bissau handed the Super Eagles a 1-0 home defeat at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Friday, stunning Nigerian football fans.

Mama Balde’s goal in the 28th minute gave Guinea-Bissau all three points.

With a record of seven points in three games, Guinea-Bissau is top of Group A, while Nigeria ranks second with six points in three games.

Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe are third and fourth in the group with two and one points in three games, respectively.
