England will be without Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount and Nick Pope for their Euro 2024 qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine. Tottenham’s Fraser Forster has been called up as a replacement for Pope but no further new faces are planned. The Three Lions play Italy on March 23 and Ukraine on March 26. Manchester United’s Rashford is said to be out due to a “knock”, Eurosport reports.
Marcos Rashford was ruled out of England’s Euro qualifier, as a result of an injury sustained in his last F.A match at Old Trafford.
The Manchester United striker picked up a knock in his side’s 3-1 FA Cup quarter-final victory against Fulham on Sunday.
His absence is the most serious blow given his scintillating form since the World Cup and would be out of England’s squad for their upcoming Euro qualifier against Italy and Ukraine.
It remains unclear how long Rashford will be out for after he limped off the pitch late on at Sunday’s F.A match.
We remain hopeful as he recovers quickly with United, in a fight to stay in the English Premier League top four, as they remain in the latter stages of the FA Cup and Europa League.
The 25-year-old has scored a career-high 27 goals for United this season, 19 of which have come since returning from international duty in Qatar, where he netted three times in five appearances.
Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope and Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount have also pulled out of Gareth Southgate’s squad.
Tottenham goalkeeper Fraser Forster is the only replacement called up by Southgate, who named a 25-man squad last week.
