Troops of the Nigerian Air Force have killed some bandits terrorising Kaduna State.

Some of the armed bandits met their Waterloo when they attacked Sabon Layi village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.

The Kaduna State government said in a statement that the proscribed bandits conducted an offensive in the area at about 9.44am on Wednesday.

The government, in the statement issued by Samuel Aruwan, the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, said it had to call the attention of the military to the terrorists’ invasion.

The government did not, however, mention the number of terrorists that were killed in the counter-offensive operation.

The government said the bandits were shooting, rustling cattle, looting property, and forcing residents to scamper for safety.

“Immediately, the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch was contacted for action, and the unit responded promptly to the location,” Kaduna State government said.

“On arrival at Sabon Layi, a thorough scan revealed normal human activities at the reported location,” it said.

The government said the bandits were seen fleeing the area about 4 kilometres north of Sabon Layi village when the aircraft opened fire on them.

It said the bandits were engaged and neutralised in several passes.
