It is now a known fact that the much talked about 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup started on Saturday, with four matches played across Group A and B.

New Zealand introduced the competition with a 1-0 victory over Guatemala, courtesy Norman Garbett’s 80th-minute strike on Saturday at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades, Soccernet reports.

Later in the day, Argentina faced an early setback when Uzbekistan took the lead at the same stadium. However, the tournament hosts made a remarkable recovery and secured a 2-1 win, placing them at the top of Group A.

The Group B matches was kicked off by the United States, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Ecuador. with Jonathan Gomez winning goal.

Slovakia overshadowed all other teams with their dominant performance against Fiji, attaining a resounding 4-0 win at the Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario. This victory advanced the European team to the top of the group.

The World Cup has entered its second matchday on Sunday playing matches from Group C and D.

Later in the evening, African champions Senegal will face Asian giants Japan at the same venue.

While Group D first match between Nigeria and the World Cup debutants, the Dominican Republic, holds at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza, Provincia de Mendoza. Kickoff is 8 pm (Nigerian time).

Pundits have predicted that the Flying Eagles will claim all three points against
