Following the Supreme Court’s affirmation of Senator Ademola Adeleke as the rightful governor of Osun State, Tuesday, the politician has embraced his opponents, including the contender, Adegboyega Oyetola, in a show of love and magnanimity.

In victory, Adeleke reached out to his opponents, including Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, the main contender, and asked them to join in the work to lift Osun State to greater peace and prosperity.

Speaking on the Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, Adeleke said as far as he was concerned, all sides and personalities were co-stakeholders and partners in progress and should join hands in rowing the boat of the state forward.

“With the litigations over, I call on all Osun State indigenes to join hands with me and move Osun State forward,” he said.

“There is no victor and no vanquished. My hands are open for ideas, anything they can do to move Osun State forward.”

The Supreme Court had earlier on Tuesday, set aside an appeal by Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenging the election of Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as Osun State Governor.

The court stood by an earlier judgment by the Appeal Court which upheld the election of Adeleke as Osun State governor.

The Supreme Court held that the appellant failed to adduce enough evidence to prove his allegation of over voting in the July 16, 2022 governorship poll.

The judgment was affirmed and adopted by all five members of the panel.

The panel said the appeal lacked merit.

After the verdict Adeleke said, “I thank the people of Osun State, they stood by me and are still standing by me. They trooped out on July 16 (2022) and voted me. I thank them because the love is organic.

“The Tribunal’s judgement was a miscarriage of justice. The Appeal Court improved it and now, today, the Supreme Court affirmed that I am the authentic winner.”

Adeleke thanked the Supreme Court justices and said President Muhammadu Buhari’s display of support for his administration after the apex court verdict despite party differences showed that he is the father and President of the entire nation.
