…as court adjourns hearing to Friday

Two Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials told the Presidential Election Petitions Court on Thursday, that they were unable to upload the February 25 presidential election results on the Result Viewing Portal (IReV) of the electoral body.

The officials however said that they had been able to upload the Senatorial and House of Representatives results on the portal.

They gave no explanation.

The officials made these attestations before the Tribunal, on Thursday, as the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) presented more witnesses to testify in the case challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the polls.

Another witness, this time called by the Labour Party (LP) however said he carried out an investigation into the causes of INEC’s failure to upload results of the presidential election and established that there was sabotage. The witness is a software engineer.

In the matter, the PDP called two witnesses, while the LP called one.

The PDP’s witnesses were presiding officers during the presidential election in Abia and Bauchi States.

Counsels for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), President Tinubu and the APC, however asked the Tribunal to disregard the submissions of the two witnesses.

The LP was also allowed to tender more evidence from Bayelsa State before the Tribunal. The court also adjourned the LP’s case till Friday, June 9, 2023.
