Despite the warning issued by the Delta State Government , for both Aladja and Ogbe-Ijaw communities to sheath their swords and maintain peace over a land dispute, one life has allegedly been lost as a result of the crisis.

Investigations showed that a victim, simply identified as Lawan, a motorbike rider, aged 25 years from Zamfara State, was said to have been murdered at his residence in Aladja on Friday 28th July 2023.

According to Mustapha Suleman, the Chairman of Arewa Group in Aladja, the deceased was killed and beheaded while trying to escape from his home when some youth carrying weapons stormed his residence.

Suleman said two of his other room mates who were also motorbike riders from the same Arewa community were able to escape but Lawan was not that lucky as he was butchered and beheaded.
