Retirement from the civil service is an opportunity for the retiree to use his wealth of experience to contribute to the growth of humanity using different platforms, according to Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

Oborevwori stated this on Saturday at the 60th birthday anniversary and retirement from civil service thanksgiving of Mr Cornelius Semiteje, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Delta State.

The thanksgiving mass took place at the Catholic Church of the Assumption, Zappa, Asaba.

According to Oborevwori, who spoke through his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, the experience garnered by retirees could be useful in other progressive endeavours.

“Today, we are glad to join you, our brother, in this celebration of a milestone in your life, your successful retirement from the Delta State Civil Service and clocking 60 years in good health and sound state of mind. We thank God for preserving you,” the governor said.

“Retirement, marks the end of a journey in the civil service and from your look, your agility, it is very obvious that you see your retirement as a great blessing and that is why you are here to give thanks to God. It is the right thing to do, thanking God for His goodness at all times.
