The State Commissioner for Humanitarian Support Services & Girl Child Entrepreneurship and Development Ms. Orode Uduaghan has emphasized the readiness of the present administration through the M.O.R.E Agenda to support the lives of vulnerable households and individuals across the length and breadth of the State.
The Commissioner reiterated this, on Thursday in Asaba during an interactive section with the Press in commemoration of the International Charity Day as enshrined by the United Nations during its General Assembly in 2012.
She disclosed that her Principal was conscientiously concerned about the well-being of the vulnerable population of the State.
“He is particular about the vulnerable households. If you listen to him speak, every time he says something there are always words around supporting vulnerable people and not just households but individuals.
“This Ministry is committed to supporting that agenda. The lives of every Deltan matter so Be rest assured that we are working very hard to ensure that we create a structure that alleviates certain problems and closes gaps” she stated.
Ms. Uduaghan further stated that International Charity Day was a day set aside to support and encourage Charity work in communities throughout the world. And to buttress that, the Theme of this year is ” Global Solidarity to Eradicate Poverty”.
” It’s a day set aside by the UN to encourage people who do charity work and encourage individuals who don’t to get involved in charity work because it is all about collaboration, helping and aiding those around you and bringing people together to make sure we make the global Society a better place” she disclosed.
The Commissioner posited that her Ministry was working round the clock to see that people-oriented Programmes were rolled out in weeks ahead for the commemoration of International Charity Day in the State.
“In the next coming week we are going to be unveiling some of those activities that we have lined up for thousands of people across Delta State” she revealed.
When asked about the flood situation, Ms. Uduaghan stated that the State Government is taking proactive steps to ensure that Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camps across the State were strategically set up to protect people who would be affected by the coming flood, adding that the state government is partnering with credible stakeholders in and outside the State to ameliorate whatever hardships the flood might cause.
Present at the meeting were the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr Wilson Chukwuka, Director, Humanitarian Support Services, Sir, Stanley Rapu, Director Community Support Services, Mrs. Thecla Agamah, Director Planning Research and Statistics, Mr. Anthony Ezeadiefe.
