The five-time AFCON winners failed to beat 10-man Guinea as they could not perform to the expectations of their supporters.

The indomitable Lions were beaten as hosts on penalties in the semi-finals last time around, as Guinea were 1-0 up, thanks to an early Mohamed Bayo strike in the second fixture of Group C clash in Yamoussoukro.

The Cameroonians failed to fire a single shot on target in the opening half of the first 45 minutes, and were given a glimmer hope just before the break as Guinea’s skipper Francois Kamano was sent off for standing on the back of Frank Magri after the referee was told to consult the pitchside VAR monitor.
