Despite attracting interest from several top European clubs, Nigerian striker Victor Orakpo has opted to join Nice.

French Ligue 1 club OGC Nice have signed 18-year-old Nigerian forward Victor Orakpo to a three-year deal.

Orakpo was scouted during an international competition hosted by Bayern Munich in October 2022. The then 16-year-old striker won the MVP award after helping his side win the competition.

Following Orakpo’s impressive performance in the competition, top clubs like AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Tottenham, and Newcastle United started monitoring the VOE Foundation product.

However, he chose to move to Ligue 1 club Nice. The youngster has been on trial at Nice for the last few weeks, but the club has decided to finalize the deal. The Eagles confirmed Orakpo’s signing via a post on their social media page.

According to Foot Mercato, Orakpo signed a three-and-a-half-year contract for €1.3 million. However, he will not play for the senior team yet. He will start with the reserves, and his performance will determine when he gets promoted to the senior team.

Apart from Orakpo, Nice also boasts the presence of Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi. Given that they play in the same position, Orakpo could gain valuable insights from Moffi’s experience.
