Brig. Gen. Yushau Dogara Ahmed, Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC) has commended Edo State Governor , Mr. Godwin Obaseki for the construction and commissioning of two additional boreholes for use by the camp community.

The Edo State Coordinator, NYSC Mrs. Ben-Ushie Frances Ifeoma, who on behalf of the Director-General of the NYSC, made the commendation during the commissioning ceremony of the water bore holes at the NYSC permanent Orientation camp, Okada, expressed appreciation to Governor Obaseki for the approval granted for the construction of the two additional boreholes for the use by the camp community.

“It is most gratifying to place on record that this Permanent Orientation Camp, which has been a long aged dream of the NYSC family was brought into fruition by the present administration. I am indeed confident that upon its completion, the NYSC Edo camp will become the new standard for all orientation camps nationwide. Your excellency sir, while we on our part pledge our continuous loyalty and support towards the lofty goals of the Make Edo Great Again MEGA agenda. Also, the state coordinator’s accommodation at the camp is almost completed and this will further ease the accommodation issues for officials,” the Director-General noted.

The Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon Zubairu Abubakar, who doubles as chairman of the NYSC Board represented the Governor to commission the water boreholes, advised the Camp community to maintain them, as well as other facilities provided by the state government.

Also present were the Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon Suraj Jubril, represented by the Permanent Secretary Blder. Nyamali Joseph and the General Manager, Small Town and Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, Omoregie Mercy.
Meanwhile, the governor who also declared the 2024 batch “A” stream 11 Orientation course open, urge the corps members to avail themselves the opportunities provided by the NYSC management through its Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, aimed towards empowering youth corps members to be self reliant.

“Avoid any such acts that will endanger your lives in the course of your one year National Service. You are therefore warned against getting involved in cyber crimes or advance fee fraud i.e (Yahoo Yahoo) cultism, or taking hard drugs as the state government has zero tolerance for such societal vices. Instead, you are encouraged to key into the economic diversification programme of the Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) Agenda by aligning yourself with the various skills programmes offered by the state government through the Edo Jobs Agency. The State Coordinator NYSC Edo State, Mrs. Ben-Ushie Frances Ifeoma disclosed that at the close of registration by midnight of Sunday 21st April, 2024, a total number of 1, 616 Corps members comprising of 874 male and 742 female have been duly registered and are ready to be sworn in as Corps members of the National Youth Service Corps.
