Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EDSPHCDA) is gearing up to commence the introduction of Telemedicine Consultations in ten Government Clinics across the State to improve access to quality healthcare services for Edo people.

The ten Government Clinics are namely Oluku, Ovbiogie, Evbuotubu, Ugbor, Ikhueniro, Central Clinic Ukpenu, Idogbo, Ugbekun, Egua-Edaeken, and Aruogba.

The concept of Telemedicine Consultations breaks down barriers imposed by physical distance, ensuring that everyone, regardless of location, can access the expertise of healthcare professionals.

This initiative aligns with the vision of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki whose resolve is to strengthen primary healthcare services across Edo State by leveraging technology to make the Edo healthcare system more responsive and accessible to the needs of the people, this is evident in the innovations witnessed.

However, the plan does not end there, as part of the State Government’s ambitious plans, the rollout of the pilot phase of Telemedicine Consultations in 10 Government Clinics is just the beginning. It is important to note that by the end of August, the goal is to have at least, fifty clinics equipped and ready to provide Telemedicine services to residents across Edo State.

Health workers have undergone 2-day training at John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA), held from Friday, April 26 to Saturday, April 27, 2024, to ensure proficient delivery of health services through Telemedicine Consultations.
