The 3rd edition of the Ekus National U-13 and U-17 Judo Championship holds in Benin City, Edo State, from April 24 – 27, 2024.

The Chairman and CEO of Ekus Judo Club Nigeria, Mr. Eke Osahon while briefing newsmen at the Media Centre, Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City said, “With our sponsor, the BIG JUDO and the Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF), it going to be a memorable event for Nigeria Judokas as the talents discovered here will be taken to the next level through youth training camps and exposure to championship both Nationally and Internationally.

“In addition, there will be cash rewards to the best coach and winners of the various categories of weight classes both in cadet and junior classes.

“Also, there’ll be special recognition and awards for retired and very senior coaches and elites JUDOKAS which are:

– Coach Edokpolor Ihaza
– ⁠Coach Bashir Musa Bassey
– ⁠Coach Jemide Johnson
– ⁠Coach Edward Esogban
– ⁠Coach Umaru Musa
– ⁠Senior Monday Ogieva (Elite)
– ⁠Senior Sylvester Eriyo (Elite)

Osahon further expressed, “I want to implore all coaches and technical officials to put in their best to make sure that all the right athletes are chosen in all ramifications as age cheating will not be tolerated and officiating should be fair to all.”
The Chairman and CEO of Ekus Judo Club Nigeria appreciated the Edo State Sports Commission for hosting this year edition of this Championship.
