The need to harvest and harness the next generation of young football talents in Edo State received a boost as Rafo Sport Management Company in collaboration with a foreign based scouting team, holds Rafo International Scouting Tournament 2024 in Benin City, Edo State.

The Scouting delegation which comprise 4 football scouts from Italy, Isreal and Brazil were recieved by the Edo State Football Association (Edo FA) Chairman, Fred Newton Erhunmeunse during a courtesy visit to his office at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State.

The Rafo Scouting Football Tournament Group fixtures kicked off at 2pm on Monday, with a second match at 4pm same day, at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) Sports Complex, with Group A clubs battling Group B clubs.

While Group A clubs are Fasa Academy, Rolly FC and Moscow FC, Group B clubs include Gabson FC, Ine Stars and True Worshippers FC.

Fasa Academy 0-1 Rolly FC

Tuesday, May 14:

Fasa Academy vs Moscow FC at 8am UNIBEN Sports Complex

Ine Stars vs True Worshippers at 4pm

The final match between the winner of Group A and the winner of B will hold on Wednesday, May 15, at the UNIBEN Sports Complex. Kick off time is 10am.

Receiving the delegation on Monday, in his office, the Edo State Football Association Chairman welcomed the scouting delegation and appreciated them for their laudable initiative, and for identifying with the State, while emphasising the need for more scouting programmes.

Fred assured the delegation of adequate security, good hospitality and satisfaction during their stay, maintaining that raw grassroots football talents reside in Edo in their increasing numbers.

The Edo FA Chairman stated that the need to develop grassroot football is paramount, stressing that it will propel young talents to greater heights in the football world.

He further assured the visitors of a peaceful stay in Edo State throughout the duration of the tournament as they work towards getting the possible best players at the end of the tournament.

Speaking with the The Nigerian Observer Sports, one of the football scouting team from Isreal, Sterling Oren, said, “I believe Nigeria is the home of young and raw football talents, I’m happy to be here and I believe so much in Nigeria football.”

Also speaking, the founder and C.E.O. of Rafo Sport Management Company, Mr. Harrison Okafor, said, “We brought this tournament to Edo State to find the next shinny stars.

“It is a three-day event, which will take place at the University of Benin Sports Complex, starting Monday, May 13 to Wednesday, 15, with cash rewards and other benefits to be given to participants.”

The visiting football scouting delegation are, FIFA agent and scout, Ascari Eugenio; C.E.O Play IT Agency and former C.E.O of Hapoel Haifa FC, Sterling Oren; Scout from Flamingo, Luciano Rodrigues and Scout at Play IT AGENCY, Morad Kfir.
Distinguished persons at the courtesy visit include the Founder and CEO of Rafo Sport Management Company, Okaka Harrison and some Edo FA officials.
