For earning a spot to represent Nigeria in the CAF Women Champions League, Edo Queens Football Club was greeted with great celebration by thousands of fans and residents upon their return to Edo State after their historic victory at the Super Six Playoffs. To this, the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki yesterday rewarded them with cash prizes.

Led by the Edo State First Lady, Dr. Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, the jubilant fans joined a motorcade with the victorious Edo Queens from Western Boys High School in Ikpoba-Hill, cheering them through Aduwawa, Akpakpava, Plymouth, Ring Road, and concluding at the Government House in Benin City, where Governor Obaseki welcomed them.

Governor Obaseki, along with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, and other top government officials received the triumphant team.

The Governor commended the team for their outstanding performance in the 2023/2024 season of the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) and their victory at the Super Six Tournament. He assured them of the state government’s continued support.
