The African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate for the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, Osarenren Derek Izedonmwen, has intensified his campaign across the state.

The candidate, whose agenda focuses on transforming Edo State through providing adequate security, agriculture, industrialization, and infrastructural development, at the weekend emphasized the need to shift from a local economy to an economy that is laser-focused on agricultural commercialization and export-led industrialisation.

Reiterating his plan to set up a policy bank that will help finance farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs, he said, “First of all, I will set up policy banks specifically to advance more affordable long-term credit (loans) to farmers and entrepreneurs in support of agriculture, agro-allied industries, and proto-industrial industries. This is where we need to invest to create value that we can export and bring forex into the state.”

He criticized the long-standing political dominance of the major parties, the APC and PDP, stating that it’s time-up for them and that Edo people are ready to take back their state this time around.

Highlighting what he termed the failures of the big parties to bring substantial development to the state over the past decades, he advocated for fresh ideas and dynamic leadership to drive progress and prosperity in Edo State.
