Manchester United are once again eyeing a move for Victor Osimhen, with Napoli indicating a willingness to negotiate regarding the £110 million release clause in the Nigerian striker’s contract.

Osimhen, 25, has been a target for United since last summer, with Erik ten Hag keen on securing a new center-forward following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure to Al Nassr.

Last season, United faced a shortage of attacking options after Ronaldo’s unexpected exit, and the situation is even more dire now that Anthony Martial has departed on a free transfer. With Rasmus Hojlund as the only recognized first-team striker at Old Trafford, the club is actively seeking a partner for the Dane in the attack.

Although United pursued Osimhen last summer, the transfer fee was deemed too high, especially after acquiring Hojlund. However, Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has indicated a willingness to negotiate this time around. De Laurentiis mentioned in January that they were aware Osimhen would likely leave, opening the door for a potential move to an English team.

With Real Madrid focusing on Kylian Mbappe and PSG no longer as appealing, the Premier League appears to be a favorable destination for Osimhen. While Napoli has suggested a hefty release clause of around £110 million, they may have to consider accepting a lower offer to avoid upsetting the player as the transfer window progresses.
